Order of Battle is just as good and any differences are solely due to personal preferences, in a nutshell OoB plays slower than PzC. Especially the way core slots work and that airplanes return to base each turn (and you have to capture new airfields and deploy your fighters to a new base). Maybe it's me but I like almost all the changes and additions. There is a lot of complexity under the hood (just look at the combat log) and plenty of welcome additions. Panzercorps 2 is by far the best incarnation of the PG/PC series. I've put about a thousand hours in Panzer General, PG 2, Panzer Corps, Order of Battle.
#Panzer corps 2 requirements series
For someone new to the series I think PC1 offers considerably more content, but if you're limited in time (say 20-30 hours) I think PC2 is the better purchase. I miss the dozens of new features too much. I've enjoyed my time with PC1 more than PC2, but it's almost impossible for me to go back now. Also, PC2 runs my gpu really hot, which may be a concern to you. Now the map and pieces are realistic, but with the same boardgame scale? It reminded me a lot of going from Civ 4 to 5.

PC1 made me think I was looking at pieces on a board. PC2 looks great, but it hits a sort of uncanny valley for me. Graphically I have to say I prefer PC1's sprites, but your mileage will vary. It's not really a fair comparison at this point, but it's definitely something to keep in mind. PC2's campaign is minimum of ~20 scenarios with ~60 total, whereas the PC1 grand campaign is a minimum of ~50 with well over 200 total scenarios across all DLC.

Core slots, lingering suppression, encirclement (even half-baked), transport auto-disembark, anti-tank support, ranged AA support, airbasing, dozens of abilities vs PC1s small handful.įrom a a campaign perspective, 's not even close. Background: PC1 is one of my favorite games with over 700 hours, and I beta tested PC2 for 60 hours.įrom a rules and gameplay standpoint, PC2 is a huge improvement.
